Welcome

Welcome to Leeds Housing Cooperatives blog. This site has been set up to encourage contact between the many housing cooperatives in Leeds and to answer some of the questions people often ask us. Please see the pages to the right of the screen for information on individual organisations.

Housing cooperatives vary in size and structure but are commonly not for profit organisations providing affordable social housing to people in housing need. Generally, housing cooperatives are small businesses run by their members, who constitute a board of management. Most have been running successfully for many years, with some owning their own properties, and others renting them.

Recruitment of new members varies from co-op to co-op, and information on this may be provided in individual organisations' pages to the right.

NB No responsibility can be accepted for incorrect or out of date information provided on this blog, and as each cooperative involved maintains its own page, uniformity of information given cannot be assumed.
